Magic always happens when you walk the docks. I wanted to go be in my favorite sort of spot, poking around the Kodiak Harbor, checking out the boats and gear and smelling the salt and fish, and listening to the longliners and seiners and pot boats bickering and rigging and baiting in preparation for the next trip. And like magic tends to happen, some delightful guy covered in fiberglass and paint yelled, “Hey lady, looking for a job?”
I laughed and told him I had one already, but before I knew it, I found my afternoon swept up laughing and preparing ganions, filing hooks, and fixing up old life rings with the boisterous crew of the F/V ANAPILAR before they headed out to slay some Halibut in the Gulf of Alaska. Like all of the stories behind the art - it was a day that left me with the reminder, life is beautiful, home is anywhere, and new friends are everywhere.
This beautifully constructed panel hat is made by Spacecraft Collective of Bellingham, Washington, and features a custom liner and piping, a stunning sublimated patch, and fine twill details.
